UI/UX Improvement Idea + Developer Interest in Brave

My name is Lukas, and I’m a junior front-end developer. I’ve recently completed my studies in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and starting this Monday I’ll begin learning React along with other front-end technologies. I’m also planning to continue into back-end development in the future to become a more complete full-stack developer.

I started using Brave not long ago and was quickly impressed — especially by its speed, privacy-first approach, and clean interface. It really made me want to explore the UI/UX side of things and think how I could contribute to making it even better.

One idea I’d love to suggest is about improving the New Tab dashboard. Currently, when users add sites using the “+ Add site” option, all shortcuts appear in the top-left corner and can’t be moved freely. I think it would be great to give users the ability to place their favorite sites anywhere on the screen — for example: work tools on the left, daily-use apps in the center, entertainment on the right. This would make the dashboard more customizable, efficient, and personal.

While I’m still learning React, I believe I’ll be able to build this kind of feature soon. Once I gain the necessary skills, I’d be more than willing to take it on or contribute to the implementation.

I feel a strong connection to what Brendan Eich and the Brave team are doing — an ethical approach, respect for users, speed, and transparency. As a budding developer, I see Brave as the kind of environment where I’d love to grow and contribute.

Thank you for creating such an amazing browser, and for being open to community ideas.

Best regards,
Lukas
