I am using Brave version Version 1.67.123 Chromium: 126.0.6478.126 (Official Build) (64-bit) and am unable to access any locally hosted sites such as home assistant. I constantly get " This site can’t provide a secure connection, ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR". This does not happen in Chrome or Firefox this is strictly a Brave issue. I have already disabled “Force HTTPS” from the settings but I am still unable to access my local sites.
I have tried resetting setting, disabling shields but nothing works. I am trying to access home assistant via: homeassistant.local. I have even gone to brave://net-internals/#hsts and deleted localhost & local. I have also disabled #https-by-default but still nothing works.
This is a new issue that started happening within the last few days so something has changed and I could really appreciate any help resolving this issue.
I have been running into this as well on both Chrome and Brave browsers for some time now, always hoping it will be fixed with an update but so far it hasn’t. If I click refresh a ton of times it will eventually load my page, but it causes a lot of problems with AJAX calls and other places where I can’t click reload a bunch trying to get it to work. This problem does not happen to me on Firefox at this point.
I just reinstalled Brave, did not change any settings and went back to my local host sites and they appear to be working now. Not sure why they are working now but a reinstall seemed, at least for now, to have fixed the issue.
I have also noticed this error returns if I copy over my brave data folder located in app data. When I would restore my computer I would copy over that folder so all of my settings would be retained etc…
However when I would do that the error would return. If I did a fresh install and manually added my settings again the issue wouldn’t come back.
