The ad blocker no longer works unless I run Brave as administrator.
It had been working normally, but when we updated the BIOS to deal with 13th generation Intel, the behavior changed.
Is this normal behavior?
Is it possible to get the ad blocker to work without running the program as an administrator?

Where are you experiencing ads? What Brave version?

@Evan123 i’m just making a quick assumption here but it sounds like they may be dealing with the issue as reported at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/38609

@chugi if you go to brave://components can you update all the filters there when you launch normally?

The oversimplified and perhaps not fully accurate description of what may be going on is occasionally some people‘s devices are moving the components files over to admin only folders. So when this happens launching Brave normally is not able to fetch those components which are used to block ads.

I know they have been trying to figure out the exact cause and solution. It was primarily something in chromium code upstream I think they said.

Anyway, knowing what version of Brave you’re on and having more details of things like if you can update components, if it’s happening on all websites are only some, etc. really helps and being able to give you more accurate answers and better guidance

Thank you for your reply.
We have confirmed that the ad blocking has stopped working on all websites. Also, we are using version 1.75.181 of Brave.
As per your reply, I have accessed brave://components and have confirmed that everything is up to date when running with admin privileges. However, when I run it in the normal state, I see an update error message.
I hope this information will help you to solve the problem.
