Spotify logs me out every time I re-open my browser

Spotify logs me out every time I re-open my browser. I tried turning off Shields, no success. The problem does not occur when using Chrome.
Brave version: 1.69.160 (newest).
Is anyone experiencing this? Any ideas?

Yes, I am experiencing ir too.
And I’ve tried to disable Shields, enable 3rd party cookies, basically I’ve tried everything and it stills log me out too everytime I re-open the browser.
It doesn’t happen in other chromium browsers, apart from Chrome, it doesn’t happen in Edge and Vivaldi.
It’s not only you experiencing this.

Not using Spotify so I cannot tell…
Using multiple services requiring login and none of it logs me out, so my wild guess would be that there is some glitch in your configs.

It makes me feel so much better to see that other people are experiencing this same issue. It has slowly been driving me crazy as I assumed it was something specific to my set up.

Edit: I am on version “Version 1.68.128 Chromium: 127.0.6533.73 (Official Build) (64-bit)” on Devuan Daedalus (pretty much Debian 12) Linux.

Edit 2: After doing more digging it appears that the cookies that keep track of a Spotify user’s log in (“sp_dc”, and “sp_key”) by default have the expires value of “Session” so this seems to be expected behavior. If you set them both to have an expiration date in the future instead of “Session” using the developer console then you stay logged in after reopening Brave. I’m not sure that this is Brave’s fault. I may go experiment with other browsers to try to figure out why this is happening as seem people on the internet hinted that this issue does not occur in other browsers.

Edit 3: The same issue seems to occur on Firefox 115.13.0esr (64-bit), and Google Chrome Version 128.0.6613.119 (Official Build) (64-bit) along with the two cookies mentioned earlier being set to expire with a value of “Session”. I’m pretty sure this is a decision by Spotify. It probably is something along the lines of https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10617954/chrome-doesnt-delete-session-cookies being why some browsers/configurations are reportedly unaffected by this issue with Spotify if you search Reddit, and other places for people seeing this issue only on some of their browsers.

Edit 4: Hopefully my final edit, I was curious to see if this was a recent change by Spotify and I eventually managed to find a screenshot on Google of someone’s dev console here ( https://today.line.me/tw/v2/article/x2My2R6 ) which shows that it they used to not expire the cookie at the end of sessions. Time to go complain to Spotify I guess.

No… I’ve tested it again and again with new profiles, no extensions and the default settings and after that with Shields disabled.
This happens mostly when you close your browser with Spotify opened in a tab. When you open again the browser and the tab that is opened is Spotify, if you refresh the tab, Brave ask to login again.
The issue exists and it has nothing to do with configs because it happens in fresh profiles with the default settings and only in Brave. So it is not a chromium issue in general, it is a Brave issue.

@erebus: TBH Im out of ideas what this is caused by.

I have been experiencing the same issue , I tried with extensions disabled and shields disabled as well , the issue persists even now. Has there been any fixes? It would help out a ton.

Nope, still nothing. All we know it’s 100% a Brave issue, since I don’t have this problem on any other browser.

You’re a legend. Thanks a ton, man.
