Why is my script blocking default not applying when I open new webpages?
I am opening webpages with scripts unblocked despite having set the default to block.
What gives with that?

@Antisocialist to confirm, you’ve set the default Script blocking Shields setting in brave://settings/shields “on”:

But sites are still showing the Block Scripts protection in the Shields panel as toggled “off”? If that is the case, can you please confirm the following:

  1. If you visit a site you’ve never visited before (try this one, for example: https://www.ign.com/articles/ninja-gaiden-2-black-review), Block scripts is disabled in the Shields panel?
  2. If you toggle Block scripts “on” in the Shields panel, close the site, then return to it, does the toggle stay on?
  3. Can you please confirm the OS and browser version you’re using at this time?

Yes, the issue is as you described.
I set the default to block scripts, but when I go to sites the toggle is off.
I noticed because normally I have to toggle the switch to get videos to play and I was getting videos without having toggled the switch.
I am using brave
Version 1.74.50 Chromium: 132.0.6834.111 (Official Build) (64-bit) on a linux box.

@Antisocialist thank you for the information.
So when testing this, it looks like I can reproduce the issue, but only in Brave Beta and only on one specific profile. If I create a new profile or test in release and Nightly build, everything works as expected.

Going to do some digging on this and get back to you when I have some more information. In the meantime, can you try creating a new profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) and test in that profile and see the Block scripts setting works as expected there?

That does seem to be the case, I’ll move over to the new profile and see how things go.

I never did the switch to the 2nd profile because I was gonna have to reload all my extensions and that was too much.

Is there a way to switch my extenstion to a new profile, or do I have to rebuild them all one by one?

Are ya’ll gonna fix the bs that altered the functionality in the first place?

I’m still hitting webpages with my shields down when I specifically chose that not to be the default.
