@Ssunflower the purple is there when you open in private window. So it seems you just keep opening in Private instead of your normal browsing window. Open in a normal window and you’ll have normal colors again.

I’m guessing you might have gone to Brave’s SettingsBrave Shields & Privacy → and toggled on Private Browsing Only? Or are you just holding down on Brave and telling it to open a new private tab?

Thanks for your response, Stephen, but Private Browsing Only is toggled off.
Any other suggestions would be very welcome ?
I used the site in the morning, was out all day and when I used it in the afternoon, it had changed to purple. No one else used it.

Very strange and very annoying.

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for advising the purple was for Private Browsing Only. Whilst the toggle was already off, I have now turned it on, waited and then turned it off again. It worked and it is now back to black. Goodness knows what turned it purple in the first place but many thanks indeed for your advice.

HI Stephen,
This problem is on-going. The purple appears on random occasions and the only way to remove it is to toggle Private Browsing on and then off again. It’s a real nuisance.

@Ssunflower just to confirm, you are saying you aren’t in private browsing? Keep in mind that with iOS it stays in private until we turn it off again. Well, at least for iPhone. I don’t know if iPad works a bit differently.

For example, below is where my iPhone has the purple. It’s because I have Private enabled.

Then here, where I hit the tab switcher, you see where it shows Private on the bottom right and it’s highlighted. This is to show it’s in Private.

If I tap Private it then shows like below, where Private is no longer highlighted.

Hi Stephen,

Do you have a solution to this problem please ? It just appeared one day, private browsing is definitly off and always has been off. Perhaps the latest up-date caused it. I don’t know.

Does anyone have a solution ? I can’t find the Brave Community where I posted the original question.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Just was having you confirm that. Please respond back with the current version of Brave and iOS that you’re using. I believe there’s been some updates since we had last shared so I want to make sure what you are on.

In the meanwhile I am going to tag @Mattches from Brave to see if he has any guidance for you.

I would try changing your browser theme to “light” instead of “dark” for a bit and test to see if the purple/private theme still “comes back” after a day or so of us.

Version of Brave is 1.76.

I’ll try changing to Light for a couple of days. It turns to purple every so often during use. To remove the purple, I have to go in and toggle the Private Browsing button on, then it asks to delete data and then I toggle off again and then the purple disappears until the next time. This is a real nuisance as you can imagine.

Also, this may be relevant, instead of New Tab appearing in the top, I have About Home.

Using ‘light” didn’t stop the purple. It’s still appearing regularly and any tabs that are open disappear until I’ve toggled Private Browsing on, deleted the data and toggled Private Browsing off again. Then the tabs reappear and the purple is gone.
