Private/Incognito needs global Do not upgrade to HTTPS

The shield settings to disable the forced upgrade of HTTP to HTTPS works fine in normal browsing windows but when using Private Window it forces it on for every site visited and there are a lot of site where the fallback to HTTP does not work. It results in the “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS” error. I did the standard clear cookies, cache, history etc… But that does not work. Once I open the shield and change the dropdown to “Don’t upgrade HTTP connections” the sites load without issue but doing that per site and per take for the same site is simply annoying.

To rule out the PC are installed Brave on a different PC that has never had Brave on it before and it does the same thing out of the box.

I routinely use Private Browsing.

Here: brave://settings/shields I have an HTTPS setting:

Upgrade connections to HTTPS

that I leave DISABLED.

Here: brave://settings/security I have another HTTPS setting:

Always use secure connections Upgrade navigations to HTTPS and warn you before loading sites that don't support it

that I leave DISABLED.

I have Shields UP, with cookies allowed, but everything else is not allowed.

By default, I have all javascripts blocked . . . and I have to individually allow sources:

brave://settings/content/javascript

That has been a lot of work, but that is part of security vs. convenience.

Same problem for me : Global Shields Setting for “Upgrade connections to HTTPS” does not sync to Site-Specific Shield setting when in Private mode. The other site-specific settings do appear to sync from brave://settings/shields

If this is not a bug, then documentation will need to be updated:

These settings are applied to all websites you visit.

How do I configure global and site-specific Shields settings?

my version
Version 1.71.121 Chromium: 130.0.6723.91 (Official Build) (arm64)

I normal run the same setting, shield up, javascript disabled by default.
Seems latest release Version 1.71.121 Chromium: 130.0.6723.91 (Official Build) (64-bit) does not have the options under brave://settings/security you listed.
