Opening tor with terminal opens 2 tor window

Description of the issue:
When using the terminal to open a brave tor instance it opens two tor windows instead of just one.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Command Prompt: start “” “C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe” --tor

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Opens two separate tor windows.

Expected result:
Open one tor window.

Reproduces how often:
Always.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
OS: windows 10
Brave: Version 1.36.112 Chromium: 99.0.4844.51 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I’ve tested another version (Version 1.35.103 Chromium: 98.0.4758.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and it works as expected, opens one tor window.

I have also tried on macOS and it produces the same result.

  1. Terminal: “/Applications/Brave Browser.app/Contents/MacOS/Brave Browser” --tor

@skillsboy Hi and welcome to the community. :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know anything about using Tor, but there was a recent topic that I think is related that I thought I would share.

Thank you!

It doesn’t look like related, my problem happens when I open it via terminal with the tor argument, it opens two tor windows with the same “identity” instead of just one.
On previous versions it was working well at least pre 1.35.103 Brave version.

Thank you both for reporting — I’m seeing this behavior on my end as well. Have reported this to the team for further investigation.
