I am tired of trying to install the ‘Latest’ version of Brave.
I really do not care if this post is a copy of others and belongs in another category.
I want someone from the Brave IT team to explain why I am
getting the error message ‘the installer failed to start’ after I download
it and try to complete the operation.
I do not want a ‘member of the community’ to ask me a myriad of questions
pertaining to this problem.
If Brave IT can not respond. I’m done.
Tired of trying to help a person that can not help themselves!
It may be possible that you’re using an older, depreciated installer for the Muon edition instead of the newer chromium engine.
Since you don’t want questions, I’ll make them statements. It would be helpful to know if you were trying to install on Mac, Linux, or Windows, though I’m guessing it’s Windows.
Also, it might also be helpful to know the name of the file, to make sure you aren’t using an older install file.
The current file is called BraveBrowserSetup.exe. and can be downloaded directly from https://brave.com/.
@WebPatriot Thanks for reporting the issue. Can you please provide more info like 1. which version are using 2. Is your machine 32 bit or 64 bit. Can you try fresh install (see steps below) and let us know if you are seeing the same issue. I am not sure which version of brave are you tring to install muon/bravecore.
Fresh install- try below steps:
Uninstall all Brave versions from Control Panel
Remove BraveSoftware folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\BraveSoftware
Remove BraveSoftware from AppData\Local\BraveSoftware
Uninstalled old version of Brave, even though I receive
periodic updates in Brave and install them. I have since
downloaded new version of Brave/chromium engine version
(where were the notifications from Brave about this??)
so now I am experiencing a much more responsive
Windows based browser instead of bloated slow
Firefox Quantum. Why did I have to join a community
bulletin board and voice my frustration as others have
before I learned about all of this? Perhaps Brave needs
an advertising department to help it’s growth!
Thanks for your assistance cynical13
As Brave is still in development and is still in Beta, there are a lot of changes that have come and will be coming. I try to keep abreast of projects that I’m interested in, especially betas.
The blog isn’t social media, it’s for company announcements, but it is one more thing to check. Just letting you know that the information is out there.
