Once last opportunity before I uninstall Brave

‘the installer failed to start’

I am tired of trying to install the ‘Latest’ version of Brave.
I really do not care if this post is a copy of others and belongs in another category.

I want someone from the Brave IT team to explain why I am
getting the error message ‘the installer failed to start’ after I download
it and try to complete the operation.

I do not want a ‘member of the community’ to ask me a myriad of questions
pertaining to this problem.

If Brave IT can not respond. I’m done.
Tired of trying to help a person that can not help themselves!

It may be possible that you’re using an older, depreciated installer for the Muon edition instead of the newer chromium engine.

Since you don’t want questions, I’ll make them statements. It would be helpful to know if you were trying to install on Mac, Linux, or Windows, though I’m guessing it’s Windows.

Also, it might also be helpful to know the name of the file, to make sure you aren’t using an older install file.

The current file is called BraveBrowserSetup.exe. and can be downloaded directly from https://brave.com/.

@WebPatriot Thanks for reporting the issue. Can you please provide more info like 1. which version are using 2. Is your machine 32 bit or 64 bit. Can you try fresh install (see steps below) and let us know if you are seeing the same issue. I am not sure which version of brave are you tring to install muon/bravecore.

Fresh install- try below steps:

  1. Uninstall all Brave versions from Control Panel
  2. Remove BraveSoftware folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\BraveSoftware
  3. Remove BraveSoftware from AppData\Local\BraveSoftware
  4. Download and install brave BraveBrowserStandaloneSetup.exe from https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v0.58.18

Also, can you please let us know from where you have downloaded the setup/.exe file? there could be many reasons for installer fail on your m/c.

  1. If you’re m/c is 32 bit, if you try to install 64 bit installer, installer fails
  2. you might be trying to install olders version of brave (depreciated installer for muon)

Thanks!

Uninstalled old version of Brave, even though I receive
periodic updates in Brave and install them. I have since
downloaded new version of Brave/chromium engine version
(where were the notifications from Brave about this??)
so now I am experiencing a much more responsive
Windows based browser instead of bloated slow
Firefox Quantum. Why did I have to join a community
bulletin board and voice my frustration as others have
before I learned about all of this? Perhaps Brave needs
an advertising department to help it’s growth!
Thanks for your assistance cynical13

Done. Thanks for the help & reply.

I’m glad I could be helpful.

I follow Brave on Twitter (https://twitter.com/brave/status/1073630521740017664), the Brave Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BraveSoftware/), and periodically check the Brave blog (https://brave.com/brave-upgrades/).

There have also been a number of news stories about the changeover (https://thenextweb.com/apps/2018/12/14/brave-browser-follows-edges-lead-and-switches-to-chromium-code-base/), (https://www.cnet.com/news/brave-ad-blocking-browser-gets-chrome-extensions-with-major-new-version/), (https://www.computerworld.com/article/3328781/web-browsers/brave-browser-goes-full-chromium-by-adopting-google-ui.html), (https://thenextweb.com/apps/2018/12/14/brave-browser-follows-edges-lead-and-switches-to-chromium-code-base/), etc.

As Brave is still in development and is still in Beta, there are a lot of changes that have come and will be coming. I try to keep abreast of projects that I’m interested in, especially betas.

I hope you find some of these links helpful!

I don’t do socialist media sites. Thanks any way.
I appreciate your help. sorry for the late response.

No worries.

The blog isn’t social media, it’s for company announcements, but it is one more thing to check. Just letting you know that the information is out there.

Have a great day!

“I hope you find some of these links helpful!”

Did you not make the suggestion to check out some of the links
you posted above?

Not looking to argue or disagree but FB, Twit are the 2
I made the comment about.

I never insinuated that Brave\community was a social media
site.

You have a nice day too!
