Notification spam

Description of the issue:

I’m getting seemingly random notification spam from sites I have never visited. I don’t know how to track down and block it.

The sites are not on my chrome://settings/content/notifications Allowed. In one case I got a notice even after I had blocked the site so blocking seemed not to work at all.

I have “Ask before sending” activated.

How can this issue be reproduced?

It is not clear that anything that I am doing causes this. I don’t know how to get to any relevant log information.

Expected result:

Should not get unsolicited alert spam.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 0.68.131 Chromium: 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
macOS 10.14.6 (18G87)

Additional Information:
I don’t know if it is possible that this is related to any extensions. I have not added any extensions recently. I don’t know how to trace down the source of the notification.

Here’s an example:
spam1

There was also one from Intel and a few that I didn’t note at the time.

@mbierman that’s is Brave Ads. You may “accidentally” enable Brave Ads @ brave://rewards .

If you have this settings enabled, Brave will show you a Brave Ads as system notification. More

Ah, could be. That would explain it.

It would be nice if there was a way in chrome://rewards/ to preview the ads so the user could see what they look like.

Anyway, thanks for clearing this up.
