Newer MacOS user came from Windows. Brave did not self update and I don’t know how to reinstall Brave.
Spoke with Apple support yesterday, Nov 18, 2024 and was advised to ask Brave for support.
Have Brave.dmg downloaded two times over from Brave website tried installing to no avail. “Update” still active in hamburger menu bar with no clear direction on where to go or what to do.
Be able to use Brave again.
MacOS Sequia 15.1. Brave 1.70.117.
I do not understand computer software to an expert level and clearly not enough to update the browser. Payouts still work, just unsure if I need to completely uninstall Brave and start from scratch. I’ve also had issues with Brave bogging down my Mac that I’ve seen in other requests for help. The Mac loading icon when trying to open new windows shows up regularly. But having Brave up to date is more important than waiting in excess of 30 or more seconds to use Brave. Thank you for any and all help.
@tylerm,
Just to be sure I understand the issue, you’re saying that you have Brave downloaded and installed on your machine, but the Update notification is displayed in the browser (as shown below)?
Is that correct? If so, you should be able to click that button, then click Relaunch Brave to update to fetch and initialize the update:
To follow up now I’ve apparently deleted Brave and reinstalled, the “update” indicator is gone and I’m now on version 1.73.91. So I hope things begin to speed up and work faster.
@tylerm,
While I’m glad you got everything working, un/reinstalling the browser was not necessary. If you had simply clicked where it says Brave is out of date in your first screenshot, the update would have gone through.
Additionally, you can always force the browser to check for and apply an update by clicking on the main menu, then clicking Help --> About Brave. If there is an update, it will check for them and then fetch them when you’re on this page. If there are no updates, it will inform you that Brave is up to date:
