Browser indicates Brave Out of Date; Can't Update; Says to reinstall Brave

Description of the issue:
Brave Browser on MacBook indicates that Brave is Out of Date. Says it cannot be updated and will require me to reinstall Brave.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
I have not done anything yet as far as updating or reinstalling until I hear if it is a legitimate request from Brave. I question the update importance considering I will apparently loose all data on my present version of Brave

Expected result:
I expect that this is a legitimate request for an update but I would have expected that there was a way to not loose all existing browser data

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
MacBook Pro macOS Ventura version 13.3.1(a)
Brave Version 1.49.132 Chromium: 111.0.5563.147 (Official Build) (arm64)

Additional Information:

Yes, this just means you waited too long and auto-update isn’t happening. You can go to and install the newest version. It won’t erase any of your information as long as you aren’t uninstalling/deleting your data.

Who told you that? Not true as long as you’re not uninstalling. It’s just asking you reinstall, not uninstall.
