My Website Was Verified as a Channel in Rewards But Brave Says It Still Is Not

Hi, I have verified my website https://SongSecure.com/ with the Wordpress plugin successfully. The channel was added to my Rewards Account. However, if I go to https://SongSecure.com with my Brave browser and click the BAT icon I receive the following error message: “This creator has not yet signed up to receive contributions from Brave users. Any tips you send will remain in your wallet until they verify.”

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Before you post!

1. It is important that you have the right expectations for free technical support for free open source software.

For an average business day you should expect about 24 hours before your first response. For the weekend (any post after 3PM PST Friday to 11AM PST Monday) expect about 48 hours before your first response.

We totally love you, but we also have loved ones, pets, and stuffed animals we like to spend time with when we’re not making free software.

2. Did you check out our Common Issues? https://community.brave.com/c/common-issues

Clicking on that Lion in the upper-right corner and fiddling with settings is going to solve like 99% of your problems.

3. Keep It Tidy

Rather than posting “+1” or “Agreed”, use the Like button. Rather than taking an existing topic in a radically different direction, use Reply as a Linked Topic.

4. On the Internet nobody knows if you are being funny/sarcastic/rude.

Smileys go a long way, but it’s better if you stick to the facts and say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. Don’t swear in text, it’s a waste of everyone’s energy.

Any kind of harassment/impersonation/spam will not be tolerated. Once acknowledged. your account will be banned.

5. Help us help you. This is how we expect you to write a post:

  • A. Make a meaningful title. “Clicking on the Done button 3 times crashes Brave” is much better than “Brave suddenly crashed”.
  • B. A screenshot or recording of the issue (Licecap is totally free to use http://www.cockos.com/licecap/)
  • C. A listing of:
    • i. Your Operating System and version (Mac 10.11.x, Windows 7/8/10, Linux distribution, iOS 9/10, Android)
    • ii. Your Brave Version. (Desktop users please copy info from about:brave using the clipboard if possible)
  • D. Detailed step-by-step instructions of how you came across the issue.
    Example:
    • i. I downloaded and installed Brave.
    • ii. I created a bookmark and clicked the ‘Done’ button three times.
    • iii. Brave suddenly quit and my bookmark was not created.
  • E. Count to 20 and re-read your post. Could someone take offense at your post? Could you say something a bit more clearly?

6. If you do not follow the guidelines above, expect to have your post edited or deleted.

We’re not trying to be rude, we just don’t want to waste energy when we could be releasing new features and bug fixes.

7. Thanks for slowing down to read this. Use the template in step 5 and you can delete the rest.

Hi @mattrusin,

Your Brave require 24-48 hours in order to sync with the latest publishers list. Your site is appears verified on my end. Also see Solutions for "not yet verified" bug.

Thanks,

Oh that’s really cool! For me it still shows not verified… Maybe it’s stuck in cache or something?

I’ll try from another computer. Thanks so much!

In short, it’s important to understand how verified status works from the browser’s perspective. Your browser downloads the entire list of verified publishers once every 24h (or 48h if you’re on an older version of Brave), and then checks against that local file to see if a site/channel you’re visiting is verified. It does NOT check against a database at the time of visiting (i.e., it is not a “live” check). Therefore, everyone’s Brave browser may see verification status differently for a certain period of time.

Imagine a daily newspaper. Everyone picks up the newspaper at a different time of the day: some people at 2AM, some people at 7PM. The people at 2AM will know about the news before the people who pick up the newspaper at 7PM. Same for verification status :).

In any case, if it’s been way over 24h and your browser is still not detecting the list, please try all the solutions listed here:

We are working to make this process much more reliable.

Thank you! Hope that helps.

For everyone still having this issue: just go to Batgrowth.com and check if your website/channel is there

It does show as verified on my other computers which is great! It does not show on my laptop as verified (it’s been about a week) but maybe that is because I installed the browser before verifying?

I tried restarting the browser but still no luck. As a HUGE supporter of the project I’d like to recommend including a message to clarify this and/or a link to Batgrowth.com so new publishers can know they have successfully verified.

Thanks,
Matt

@Mattrusin Thanks. It could be because you visited it before verifying. There is another file called publisher_info_db (if I remember correctly) that would be relevant to whether you visited it before verifying. You can try deleting/renaming that file too, and then checking your publisher_list file to see if your YT channel’s ID appears in it.

Sorry you are encountering this bug!
