Multiple print job restarts waste paper

Has anyone here had and resolved this problem or something like it? Regardless of hardware and o/s.

Windows 10 pro. I have a 30-page pdf showing in Brave. Told it to print all pages, double sided, on a Brother mfc-j497dw.

It was still printing after a while, so I checked. It had started the job again and I had a pile of paper in the output tray. Turns out it had restarted the job 8 times, starting all over again each time. First it stopped at p 10, then 18, then 20 then 4 then 2 then 10, etc.

Has anyone had this experience? Asking here in case Brother and MS give me the runaround. Any thoughts appreciated.

If the printer is not a higher horsepower unit from:

  • Canon
  • Hewlett-Packard
  • Xerox

. . . then print 4 pages at-a-time:

  • 1-4
  • 5 - 8
  • 9 - 12
  • etc.

Always download the PDF file. Locate the PDF file. Open and print the PDF file, using Apple’s Preview or Adobe applications.

Thanks. Technology is wonderful when it works.
