Lost 50-60 brave rewards, can't connect account

Briefly describe your issue:

What Operating System and Brave version are you using (Menu --> About Brave)? Android 10 - Brave 1.49.132, chromium 111.0.5563.147

Is your browser wallet currently verified? (yes/no) no

What date did you verify your wallet?

Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past? yes

Are you using a VPN? (yes/no) occasionally use ExpressVPN

Are you eligible for Brave Rewards (see here for list of supported regions)? yes

Are you on the list of supported regions when verifying Brave Rewards with a custodial partner (see here for list of supported regions)? yes

Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)? unknown, can’t install it, but I’m running stock on a galaxy s9+ and can use Google Pay and mobile banking apps, so expect my device would pass

Have you manually turned off Auto-contribute on all of your devices linked to a custodial partner? no

I’ve been using brave for well over a year. I usually get adverts without any issue, and when I click the rewards triangle it would always take me to a summary page showing rewards total. I have not linked to uphold or gemini yet, but believe I had around 50-60 BAT in my browser.

Since last week, the rewards triangle icon frequently shows the number 5, but when i press it, the number disappears and nothing else happens. When I go through the menu to the Brave Rewards page, brave://rewards it shows that the rewards toggle is active, but most of the other info is gone, including my BAT tokens, and it tells me to connect an uphold or gemini wallet to start receiving rewards. There’s no mention of previously earned rewards.

When I click the button to ‘connect account’, hoping that might get it moving, it gives the uphold and gemini options, but neither do anything. I can’t proceed to connect any of them.

If you are not connected to Uphold or Gemini, you do not receive any more rewards and the ones you had are lost.

This has been announced in January.

If you are not able to connect, I suggest that you contact Brave Support using the link below

Well that sucks. I wasn’t a member of the forums until I decided to post this question/issue, and never received any warning of this on my phone, so wasn’t even aware that this was happening.

@Rossem Let me correct a few things here. When @rodrige said you lost the Rewards you had, that shouldn’t be the case yet as vBAT hasn’t sunsetted yet. So if it’s the same exact browser profile and all (meaning you haven’t uninstalled/reinstalled Brave or factory reset your device), all of the BAT you had earned should still exist at this time.

Why do you say you can’t install it? Are you getting any messages? Because as you can see in screenshots below, it shows up in Google Play, can be installed, and even is able to be used on my Samsung Galaxy S9 that is also running on Android 10. So there should be absolutely no reason why you can’t install it…

If you type in brave://rewards-internals in your search bar, what does it show?

Thanks, so there might still be some hope?

Looks like the safetynet test app isn’t compatible on my device:

The reward internals page shows no rewards:

I don’t understand whats happened, nothing on my handset has changed anytime recently. Really hoping to get them back and into my uphold wallet, as this has taken a long time to reach this amount of tokens. Wish I had connected the wallet before.

@Rossem I’m wondering why you get the message you do and I don’t. Definitely is awkward. In any case, they just released 1.50 update for Android, can you update and make sure nothing changes.

As to what it’s showing on your Rewards-Internals, seems it’s not even showing you with an active Rewards. I’d advise you to create a Rewards Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001302431 but you wouldn’t be able to provide a Rewards Payment ID. So, may just have to try to tag @Evan123 to see if he can help when he gets back.

Just keep in mind Support doesn’t usually work on the weekends, so you may be waiting a few days for a response.

@Saoiray I don’t believe it, I thought I had Brave up to date, read your comment, thought I better check before going any further, and sure enough, nope, there’s an update waiting to be applied.

As soon as it was updated, everything clicked into place, I had almost 65 BAT waiting.

Immediately connected to my Uphold wallet, which actually works now.

It’s always the silly little things that catch me out, and I end up massively over thinking it.

Thank you so much!!! Really appreciate your time and help!
