Linux Mint Brave Browser keeps saying "UPDATE"

Today is Tuesday, April 15, 2025 ~ around 5 pm CST

Brave Browser in Linux Mint distribution (based on Ubuntu)

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

1.Upper right corner of Brave Browser says “Update”
2.
3.

Expected result:

After installing Brave Browser (over existing brave browser) it still says “Update”.
After removing Brave Browser followed installing brave browser it still says “Update”.

Other than this constant “Update” issue, the brave Browser opens up very fast and is a very fast working browser. This is my web browser of choice.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Linux Brave Version = Version 1.74.48 Chromium: 132.0.6834.83 (Official Build) unknown (64-bit)

Additional Information:

When I type “cat /etc/issue”
output is "Linux Mint 22.1 Xia \n \l

I have tried installing Brave Browser onto Linux Mint with the following single command:

curl -fsS https://dl.brave.com/install.sh | sh

I have also tried installing Brave Browser with the following five commands:

sudo apt install curl

sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg

echo “deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main”|sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list

sudo apt update

sudo apt install brave-browser

Both installation methods are from the Brave website.

I uninstalled Brave Browser with the following two commands:

sudo apt remove brave-browser brave-keyring

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-*.list

My hardware is fairly modern, built around early September 2023:

32 GB RAM
ADM Ryzen 7 5700G CPU with integrated graphics
ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II microATX 2.5G LAN motherboard

When I uninstalled the Brave Browser and then re-installed it, my bookmarks re-appeared just fine so I wonder if the uninstallation did not take place completely? Does this even matter?

Thank you for all and any help.
