Links with command to highlight text doesn’t highlight anything

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearms_regulation_in_Canada#:~:text=Those%20who%20owned%20handguns%20prior,existing%20ones%20to%20someone%20else.

Expected result:
Should scroll to text and highlight “Those who owned handguns prior to the freeze may continue to possess and use them in accordance with the law, however they cannot acquire new ones or transfer their existing ones to someone else” Instead it stays at top of page, and highlights nothing

Brave Version( check About Brave):

As answered to your Reddit post:

u/jag176 this has already been reported a number of times and is being resolved. Little tip: Go to search functionality of sites like this or the official one at Brave Community and type in things like “highlighted text link”. Then always do it Newest or Latest first, as results tend to be more relevant.

Doing so can give you results like https://community.brave.com/search?q=highlighted%20text%20link%20order%3Alatest The 14th down was Highlighted Texts Not Supported in Brave - #8 by Saoiray

When I clicked to read it, I was brought to Highlighted Texts Not Supported in Brave - #8 by Saoiray which was hitting your problem. A reply below that was Highlighted Texts Not Supported in Brave - #10 by Mattches where they shared a Github link to show it was a known issue.

That Github is https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/22906

Then reading through that you would see a phrase “See @ShivanKaul’s new PR to add this feature back :partying_face: #44265

Click on that to take you to https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/44265 where we see:

@stopsopa it’s landed in Nightly which is version 1.78. That version is due to hit release channel on 29 April 2025.

We could potentially uplift the patch to 1.77 if that made sense - that would bring the release date to 1 April 2025. Will defer to @ShivanKaul @rebron @kjozwiak

So there’s your answer. It’s a known thing, they have a fix out, and it’s just a matter of time before it lands.

Unfortunately, people don’t seem to like to take the time to do searches or read through things. sigh

I know, it’s the old adage, “work smarter, not harder.” By just coming to places and asking the question without putting in any effort, other people do the hard work for you and you just have to wait for an answer. It seems to be the new norm. But it does become a bit frustrating at times. And to increase your chances of success, you did a copy/paste to multiple sources. It just sucks having people ask questions to which answers already exist. It floods out real problems that need direct assistance and wastes a lot of time in general.
