Linkclump extension stops bookmarking

I’ve been using linkclump extension for a year at least, and it’s always worked. It worked yesterday. Now (today), it stopped working…it seems to work, but it doesn’t create bookmarks as expected. I can surround links on my page, but those links don’t get bookmarked.

I’ve reinstalled linkclump…still see the same problem. I reinstall Brave (and linkclump)…still see the same problem. I delete all bookmarks (in case there’s a problem with too many bookmarks)…still see the same problem. I can create bookmarks through Brave, but not through linkclump.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install linkclump.
  2. Open any web page that has links.
  3. Highlight (surround) the links with the mouse (as configured by you through linkclump)
  4. Release the mouse button.

Expected result:
A new linkclump bookmark folder should now be in the bookmarks/other-bookmarks folder. In that folder should be bookmarks to the links highlighted in step 3.

Actual result
No bookmark folders or bookmarks created.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
[Version 1.2.42 Chromium: 79.0.3945.117 (Official Build) (64-bit)]

Additional Information:
I export my Brave bookmarks to a file, then go to Chrome and import these. I then try linkclump in Chrome and it works.

I had the same problem with 2 other bookmark extensions. Switchmark: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/7638 which i regularly used and Bookmarks Bar Switcher: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bookmarks-bar-switcher/lcaelgondnfehcambmdhhfokjknhfahc?hl=en that I tried as an replacement. I think the change of the Bookmark Folder Structure in Brave is the reason for that and it makes it incompatible to a lot of bookmark managing extensions. I really hope that there will be a fix soon.

I have another computer, and linkclump was working fine with Brave. Then, I noticed that there was an update to Brave available, so I clicked on “Update brave” and it did so, and then restarted Brave. Now, linkclump no longer works! The version I updated to is Version 1.2.42 Chromium: 79.0.3945.117 (Official Build) (64-bit), the same as my other computer that’s experiencing the problem. Argh!!!
