Latest version of Brave crashes every time upon opening on Mac OS 10.14.6

Description of the issue:
Everytime I open Brave (v. 79.1.2.43) it crashes immediately.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Open Brave browser from Applications
  2. Try and do anything
  3. Watch it crash within 3-4 seconds

Brave opens, but then is gone within a second or two

Expected result:
For brave to work like a browser and stay open

Reproduces how often:
Every time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Mac OS 10.4.6
Brave (v. 79.1.2.43)

Additional Information:
I used to use Brave until about 6 months ago when this started happening.
I have tried restarting my computer, clearing system preferences files related to Brave and nothing works.

Hi @loveandlight - thank you for reporting. When you look at System Preferences - Privacy and Security Does Brave pop up?

Yes, it was unchecked. So I checked it and tried to re-open Brave. To no avail. Crashes

I am experiencing same issue since the last update (updated 20 min ago)

MacOS Catalina 10.15.3
Brave Version 1.3.113 Chromium: 80.0.3987.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Please, advise

since couple of days Brave wont load properly, and it is unuseable

For anyone here still experiencing crashes on browser launch, please refer to a separate thread regarding the same issue, which includes a test build you can download/update to that should resolve the issue:

Thank you really much it seems to work fine! I just downloaded and run, and it seems to work fine. I will let you know if some issues will come up!!

i am on [Version 1.3.118 Chromium: 80.0.3987.116 (Official Build) (64-bit)] on my mac
and it is crashing. this is so strange. it worked till today, i didnt do anything new ( i mean no new installations and no new plugins )

Can you try launching from the terminal with Hardware Acceleration disabled? Simply open the terminal, and enter the command

open -a "Brave Browser.app" --args --disable-gpu
