Lag in normal use and choppiness

Description of the issue:
Brave is lagging in normal browsing (scrolling) and while watching videos. It’s not that much but it is definitely noticeable and annoying. I tried watching a 1080p 60fps youtube video in brave and another browser / several movies on netflix and the difference (brave being choppy) makes me want to change my default browser…

I’ve already tried turning on/off hardware acc. and smooth scrolling flag.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 latest [1.10.97]

Hi @Elmar2001,
Can you try creating a new test profile and seeing if the issue persists?
Click on the menu icon in the top right corner > create a new profile.

@Aa-ron yes, same issue on the new profiles

Can you try clearing your browsing data via brave://settings/clearBrowserData?

i deleted all the browsing data, it only helped a bit. It still lags.

@Aa-ron currently I switched to Brave Beta as a temporary solution, it seems to be ok so far; however, pdf scrolling has always been choppy in Brave for me, is that normal?

@Aa-ron so apparently this lagging happens when I disable hardwarde acceleration, but my laptop gets hot while it is turned on as brave uses more gpu. Any workaround?
