iOS: Keyboard doesn’t appear when opening new tab

Hello all.

I’m a first time poster here, so my sincere apologies if I’m posting in the wrong area.

Since Brave’s latest mobile iOS update, version 1.18, the option to automatically have the keyboard pop up when opening a new tab has disappeared.
This was a useful feature in regards to accessibility.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open brave 1.18 on an iPhone
  2. Open a new tab
  3. Keyboard doesn’t come up. User has to reach to address bar and tab said address bar before keyboard comes up.

Previously there was a setting to toggle this feature off and on. This setting appears to have been removed.
Previously when this setting was active, upon opening a new tab, the keyboard would come up and you were able to type in the address bar straight away. This might not sound important in the grand scheme of things, but it made using Brave a lot easier to use.

Version 1.18 on Apple iPhone XR.

Would it be possible to restore this function?
Thank you

Hi @Naby,
I had a look into this, it appears this was intentionally part of the 1.8 update. Unfortunately it’s not possible to restore this.

Hi Aa-ron,

Thank you for looking into this.

That’s a bummer, that feature was beneficial for my repetitive strain injury.

Thank you.

@Naby,
Would you mind leaving a feature request here on Community to include or re-introduce this feature? Be sure to included the word “Accessibility” in the title (will get more attention this way).

I can’t guarantee it will get implemented (or considered – lots of fish to fry!) but its always good to have an official record of these things.
