In-browser video and camera problem w/Brave Talk

  1. Description of the issue: I am a Brave Premium member. When I try to use Brave Talk in my desktop browser, I can’t see myself or any of the participants in my browser. They can see and hear me on their end. I have the same results on two different computers and two different cameras – both the built-in cam on my MBP and an external cam. When I go to the camera settings window, it does not even show a preview of my camera feed.
  2. How can this issue be reproduced? I log into Brave Talk and start a new call. No matter what camera settings I use, I can’t see myself or any participant.
  3. Brave version: Version 1.34.80 Chromium: 97.0.4692.71 (Official Build) (x86_64)
  4. Computer information: 15" MacBook Pro w/2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. Radeon Pro 460 4 GB graphics card.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Very strange that others on the call can see/hear you but you can’t see yourself. Can you confirm that you have the camera and/or mic permissions set to Allowed for the site? Simply enter a Brave talk room, click the “lock” icon in the address bar and check to confirm those permissions are set to Allowed.

Unfortunately, everything was clicked correctly. What’s REALLY weird is that I can copy/paste the URL for my talk into Safari and everything, including the camera feed, works perfectly!

Apologies for the long wait time on this.
I’m wondering if a data reset for will do the trick. Simply visit the site, click the “lock” icon in the address bar, then Site settings —-> Clear data. You may also want to Reset permissions on this page as well just to be thorough.

Then refresh the page, log back in and grant the proper permissions when prompted to do so and see if this makes any difference. Let me know what you find out.

I apologize – your message just came through this morning. I tried the reset and no, it didn’t correct the problem. I am stumped as to what the issue is. The light on my built-in camera shows that it is active, but Brave isn’t displaying the camera feed. It’s very, very odd!

Very odd indeed — let me reach out to some devs about this. Appreciate your patience here.
