External webcam not working in Brave Talk

My external webcam (Logitech HD Pro C920) used to work in Brave Talk. It still works when I’m in the meeting room, but as soon as I open the room, I get a black screen. The camera is on and works with all sorts of other video conferencing apps, but not Brave Talk.

I have read through and tried all the other solutions but still cannot get it to work.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what’s going on?

Trying to confirm the behavior here — you see the camera working in the meeting but when you join the room the screen is black? Meaning that you don’t see yourself on camera if you were to simply create a room and be the only person joining it?

Further, if it is working during a meeting, what changes? That is, what makes you eventually appear on camera ?

Correct and correct. The camera works fine when I first the waiting room (after I open the Brave Talk link) but then when I click “join” to enter the meeting room, the screen goes black.

All the meeting controls are visible, accessible, and usable, I just cannot see myself. The audio coming through the external web cam works fine however.

If another person joins the meeting, I can see and hear them fine. They can hear me fine, just not see me.

I never eventually appear on camera inside the meeting room, only outside it.

This happens with both an external webcam or the integrated one in my PC laptop. All works fine with my Macbook.

Can you please visit talk.brave.com, click the “lock” icon then Site settings and confirm that the Camera permission is set to Allow?

Additionally, if you try this in a Private browsing window (I recommend closing any other windows when testing) do you see the same behavior?

Yes, I can confirm that the camera setting is properly set in the Brave settings.

I also tested in a private window and it seems to be working fine (it never was before), so I decided to clear my “all time” cache to see if that changes anything, and it did! I thought I had already tried this solution previously, but apparently not? Who knows.

All seems to be well now, go figure. I’m still not sure what possible thing in my cache could’ve been stopping it, but my external webcam works now in Brave Talk.
