How can I get my Chrome bookmarks to show in Brave
Howdy @wbuck926. Assuming you’re using a recent version of Brave, click the hamburger menu (stack of three lines like this (click to enlarge): ) in the upper right of the window, go to Bookmarks
, and select Import Bookmarks and Settings...
thus (click to enlarge):
and you should see this, but with Chrome in the list:
Select
Chrome
, click Import
, and see what happens. If it doesn’t work, there’s a fairly easy workaround, but we’ll need to know what operating system you’re using and what version of it. While you’re at it, your version of Brave would be good, and you can get all of that by opening a new tab, typing brave://version
in the address bar, and hitting return. It should look something like this, though if you’re running the latest main release, your version will be something like 1.2.43:Thank you! I have tried the first approach and it didn’t work. It says… Version 1.2.43 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit). I am also using Catalina OS
@wbuck926, okay. So, if it’s just the bookmarks you want, all you need to do is copy your bookmarks file from the Chrome support directory to the Brave Browser one. You might want to duplicate both of them before doing this (select, CMD-D). They’re both found in your home directory/Library/Application Support/. If you don’t use Terminal/command line a lot, let me introduce you to the shorthand for your home directory, the tilde (~). Thus, you can find your Chrome bookmarks in (you might want to open two Finder windows, one with each location shown):
~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default
After Brave is closed/quit, drag the file Bookmarks
to your Brave profile folder at:
~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default
and tell Finder to replace the one that’s there when prompted. Here are images to illustrate their locations:
NONE of that shows up in the version of Brave I just installed. Why not & how can I import bookmarks??
Don’t have any of that in the version I just installed, and it was not part of the tour. Getting really frustrated at this point.
This thread was about desktop Brave. The screenshots you posted are of mobile Brave (Android?).
Yes sir. Do there is no way to import into Android version? Seems kind of dumb to me, but what do I know. There are other options out there.
