I have questions about VPN

Hi Mr ninja

Sorry for wrriting in such a random thread but and I dont have any issue like that but just 1 or 2 unanswered wonderings around the brave vpn which i cant find answer to anywhere here, supportpages/faq and not even via your link with all kinds support ticket links … but its not needed for this. A ticket and all that …actually the closest or actually precisely one of my questions has been asked here but that thread has been locked or blocked for inactivity i think, but whats the problem if like today, i show up and and … yeah hmm

Is it ok if I ask you ?

Cheers from brand new community member

Hi.

Im just wondering if youre ok if i ask a simple question or two … been testing the brave vpn a month or two and just wondering and i know you know the answers HA! :wink:and maybe could help me a little … just few things im wondering about

Cheers

@Croverdale can’t help if you’re just completely vague and never ask a question. If you need help with anything, please get to the point.

Hey im just wondering, I dont know if someone getting mad if start asking in someones thread…

So i got a brave browser vpn subscription..it was in my face constantly and everywhere…as soon as i signed up, poolf what vpn ?!?

Its not even a category here? And the constant bickering oooh our new vpn service bla bla bla oh ih new vpn very much about this past year

And then i almost cant find ANYTHING settings vise for it…its never connected when i feel the tingle to check …never. how bout a notification when it does, since it part in keeping my connection safe, your words.

Anyway like to know which protocolls it runs and where i get the service-settings/setup file

Since youre wording is your whole device…your network connection…(only the browser yaaaaah)

Which is why I moved yours to its own topic, that way focus can be on it and it’s not sending notifications to others.

You would see VPN button or option in your settings. You haven’t shared what OS you’re on or anything, so it’s hard to guide you on that.

To be clear, you are using Brave for your web browser, right?

Sure it is. Browser Support > Firewall + VPN

Also has helpful information in all the links below:

To make sure you know what a VPN does, it just masks your IP address. So it makes the website think you are somewhere you aren’t. It helps with privacy.

Then the firewall part of it helps block malware and improves on adblocking and all.

I am not quite sure what you are talking about on this? Perhaps reading through the links I shared earlier would answer what you’re asking?

No, it’s not just the browser. The VPN is system wide on your device. So everything on your device that uses the internet would be flowing through the VPN. It does initiate through Brave and can’t be used by people not using Brave as a browser. But that doesn’t mean it only routes the browser and nothing else through it.

Sorry don’t know markdown or web coding

I have two win 11 desktops and Two Android phones… Android 14 still on Samsung but the other is Android 15

Well then I’m glad it’s beyond the browser, and Yes of course I use Brave Browser… On all 4 devices sync chained

I want a smoother solution, and got a new router that has VPN client feature and can connect to VPN providers for all 4 devices which all are on my home network so I don’t have to I installl everything separate on all 4 devices…

But I need some VPN server adresses

I think you know what I meant by protocol, what info I need is what VPN type this is, openVPN/PPTP/L2TP/IPSec or wireguard

AND I will need login credentials not as you have it setup where I need request a email login link, also odd

And as you also know I need 1 configuration file (hopefully only 1 but I can create the unified format if needed)

Some

IKE

ESP

Do I need to contact GuardianVPN the service provider?

@Croverdale I don’t believe you can run Brave VPN through that like you’re wanting. It goes only on a device, it can’t be run for whole router/network. It does run on Wireguard but then I’d be at a loss past that.

Let me tag in @Mattches as well as @GuardianTeam to see if either can help on your questions.

@Croverdale what you are trying to achieve is not possible with Brave VPN and tbh I’m not sure if it’s possible with most other VPNs either.

If you want to find the VPN config/profile settings on your system, you can just find them on your system.

For Windows: Settings --> Network & Internet --> VPN
For macOS: System Settings --> VPN

Alright but it’s a common thing to see this function on lesser known brands on routers N such… It’s a little struggle setting up… But once it’s up and running it’s quite ultimate, because it’s really how you should have your home network setup with modern hardware firewalls in routers it’s quite nice… So why doesn’t it work out…

Guardianvpn should be able to put some light on

Anyways this is just as it went with protonVPN, nordvpn,

MULLVAD was exceptional in helping the very first time I tried this.. 2 yrs ago maybe.. I promised signing a couple sub if the got me help and had it up and running… They put in 2 full 8hour workdays trying via remote accessing my desktop, but failed in the end, that was TP_link and a pricy 370euro router many functions but the model was a V 1.0 which they Completely abandoned, changed a letter in the model name a made new US release which works and gets updates to firmware… That V 1 EUversion hasn’t got any in years… Still on the market via tp links officially national dealer here in Sweden… Tp is a scam…

Now on a lesser known but real professional actual router with functions that work and no apps either… Web managing by cable only
