I have just downloaded brave to escape from chrome

I have just downloaded brave to escape from chrome. Why would I want to hear every key that I click being read back to me by an annoying voice? I have spent about 40 minutes trying without success to turn the voice off. Please advise how I turn it off and why would it be turned on by default?

Hi Dryad, I use Windows 10 on a desktop computer thanks.

All good. It was caused by this :- ChromeVox Classic Extension being enabled.

Smart move, welcome to the brave browser. I read a news article about Joe Rogan using Brave, how about that for influence. just amazing.
