I can't use searching

For at least a week I can’t search anything, as I google something that’s not a link. I don’t think I did something so this can happen.

I ask you to help me so I can get results as earlier (I added a screenshot so you can understand what I am talking about). brave version v1.73.101

If you would, please, take another screenshot - that shows the entire Brave Browser window.

Because, I am wondering, where is the traditional search engine search field? (ie Not the URL address field).

here you go

Thank you. So, you are trying to use the traditional Google search engine’s search field.

Let’s say, that you type in that field: “Brave Browser” . . . and then you tap your Enter key on your keyboard . . . and nothing happens?

@Kubson one of the first things to notice is you’re using extensions. We can see that based on the image icon on the upper right of your browser.

This begs the question of:

  1. Does it work if you open a private window? (if you haven’t changed settings, private window should be a session with all extensions disabled and with no cookies)

  2. If you create a guest profile, does it work? (Hamburger menu imageMore ToolsOpen Guest profile)

Then beyond that, I see:

Wyniki są spersonalizowane – Wypróbuj bez personalizacji

This is telling us you have personalized results. I do not know what you have chosen, but it may just be that you have narrowed things down enough that it’s not yielding results based on your choices. If you choose to Wypróbuj bez personalizacji, does it give any results or it stays like you show?

the only thing that happens is I think brave trying to look it up because link actually change, but

it does work with incognito but not with guest account

@Saoiray , @Kubson ,

I use 2 extensions that I have added, and I routinely use Brave Browser Private Windows - and such windows do not disable extensions, because of the following setting:

so what should I do?

This is very odd. It would make sense if you said it didn’t work in incognito but worked in guest account. But the opposite way defies logic.

Private/Incognito = New session with no cookies and all extensions disabled

Guest Profile = Creates a session with default settings, no extensions installed, and no cookies.

I guess you can further confirm just by doing a new profile. So the hamburger menu → more tools → add new profile.

But otherwise it’s just got us leaning to the idea of you perhaps clearing all cookies. This logs you out of everything but would purge out the potentially bad cookie.

It’s either that or disable all of your extensions and see if it works.

No guarantee that the following will resolve the issue, but try these steps . . .

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/content/javascript

Scroll down that javascript settings page to Allowed to use javascript

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]google.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only

Click the Add button

Repeat for:

  • [*.]firebaseapp.com
  • [*.]gmail.com
  • [*.]googleapis.com
  • [*.]googleusercontent.com
  • [*.]gstatic.com
  • [*.]youtube.com

Also, enable the 2 switches with the Brave Browser Settings, that allow:

  • full URL address
  • wider URL address field

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://net-internals/#dns

Click on Clear host cache

Next, same window, select “Sockets” on the left.

Click Close idle sockets

Click Flush socket pools

Quit everything and Restart your computer.

Flush the Windows OS DNS cache:

Open a Command prompt, then run it as an administrator:

  • Right click CMD
  • Click Run as administrator

Type or paste each command below

  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /renew
  • netsh int ip reset
  • netsh winsock reset

Then Restart your Windows OS computer.

I disabled every extension and new guest profile doesnt work

did this and it doesnt work

also dooesnt it, is there anything else? The only way I can look something up is by using incognito
