Searching using the address bar doesn’t work sometimes
Step 1 - Open brave
Step 2 - Search any terms from the address bar (google search engine)
Step 3 - Tab shows that is is loading but it never fully loads.
Step 4 - Search using the browser widget (Brave search engine) - this works
See screenshot. New tab just loads and spinning icon appears. Results don’t load when searching from address bar.
Windows 11
Brave Version 1.73.97 Chromium: 131.0.6778.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)
At every opportunity, I use the search field (not the URL address field) of a search engine’s webpage. I suggest that, as the more reliable course of action.
Can you please try opening a Guest profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile) and tell me if the same behavior occurs in the guest profile as well?
It does the same thing on a guest profile. If I change the search engine to something that is “non google” then it works. It seems to be an issue when choosing Google as the search engine.
That’s strange considering the Guest profile has no associated data with it. When you tried the Guest profile test, did you close your original profile window? If not, can you please try again with that window closed (so only one guest profile window will be open)?
That is…very strange. You would expect to see this occur when site data for [Google] needs to be cleared or perhaps an extension that is installed is causing some conflict. But the issue is occurring in essentially a blank profile with no associated data.
Do you see the same thing happen in any other browsers?
