Hulu unable to get location and load

Description of the issue: Hulu asks for me to share my location, and after I select “allow” it cannot load. Instead it chews on the request either indefinitely, or errors out with “unable to find your location - get help.”

Exact URL of the website in question: https://www.hulu.com/profiles?next=/ (OR https://hulu.com + login + share location)

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? No

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): All default settings, except Location = Allow and Cookies = Allow

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? Yes (also on Safari)

Does turning of trackers & ads in shields, help?

I don’t notice any difference with that. It still sits on the “Just a moment while we gather what’s new…” loading screen after I click to share my location with Hulu.

I see the same behavior as elbeh accessing hulu from Brave Version 1.15.72 Chromium: 86.0.4240.75 (Official Build) (x86_64) running on macOS 10.15.7.

After logging in and allowing hulu to see my location I see the following

I did test a hulu account (I am NZ based) but the liveTV option wasn’t enabled for the login supplied. If you can PM details I can take a look @morristm

Live tv is pay add on… Just creating an account won’t give you live tv… but, I can repro hulu not working with getting location and failing to login…

Have created a ticket, if people can add details:

A few questions:

Does the Brave dev console (F12) show any error message when it requests location data
Does Brave Beta/ Nightly make a difference?
Do Shield settings change the behavior (in Brave release, Beta or Nightly)

actually for me it doesn’t login at all… you put in your creds to login, but part of the login, from time to time, is hulu asking for location… so from there if you say ok to getting location, hulu will attempt to get it. But hulu fails and is forever stuck attempting to get location… you never make it to your hulu user page to choose live tv or whatever… hulu_broken.mp4

don’t know… don’t touch nightlies
Changing shields values, tracker/ads, cookies, fingerprinting, or turning off shields doesn’t change the nonworking behavior

Would try testing with a VPN from a different location, atleast I see comments of others having issues with hulu

This issue on this side of the pond had/have nothing to do with that… logged in fine on chrome, had the location check as well…

Looks hulu is now working as tested on the latest version of brave… ie. hulu loaded to home page after clicking on get location button…
