Hey Brave Community
I’ve been using Brave on my Android/iOS device for a while now, and I really appreciate the built-in Shields for blocking trackers, ads, and unwanted scripts. However, I recently came across a few websites that didn’t load properly until I disabled Shields for that specific site.
So I figured I’d share a quick guide on how to enable or disable Shields on individual websites using the Brave mobile browser. This is especially helpful if you’re trying to troubleshoot broken sites or allow scripts for certain features (like video playback or logins) to work properly.
Steps to Enable/Disable Shields for a Website (Mobile)
- Open the Brave browser on your mobile device.
- Visit the site where you want to change Shield settings.
- Once the page loads, tap the Brave icon (lion icon) next to the address bar.
- A small Shields panel will appear.
- Toggle the “Shields UP” switch to either enable or disable protections for that site.
Shields ON = protections active (default)
Shields OFF = protections disabled for this site only
You can also scroll down in that panel to fine-tune:
- Ad & tracker blocking
- Cookie control
- Script blocking
- Fingerprinting protections
- HTTPS upgrade
Why Would You Disable Shields?
Some websites rely on third-party scripts or cookies to function — things like:
- Video players not loading
- Buttons or forms not responding
- Login or payment issues
If you’re sure a site is safe, disabling Shields just for that site is a good workaround.
Have You Run Into Issues?
I’d love to hear if others in the community have had to tweak Shield settings for certain sites.
- Any websites you always have to disable Shields on?
- Any suggestions for managing these settings more efficiently?
Let’s share tips and help each other make the most of Brave on mobile.
Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback!
