I sometimes mistype a URL in the address bar and do not want the content then sent to a search organization. In Chromium, I am able to disable by creating a bogus default search. How do I disable search in the address bar?

Looks like the only way is to do the bogus default search engine. Settings–>Search engine–>Manage search engines, click Add, fill in Null and Null for name and keyword, just %s for Query URL, save it and then click the dots at the right of the search engine entry to make default.
