I think you still have to update your system, like you usually would for your distribution. I tend to run Manjaro, and Brave is in the repo. Since my computer lets me know when I have updates, I’ll get a notification in the system tray that there is an update and I then update my programs on my own time. It isn’t the same as Windows.
Where do they keep the repository for autoupdate? Do they use launchpad or something else? How is versioning working?
