High Background Data Usage

Description of the issue:
Extremely high data usage over the past couple of days. I factory reset my phone on Tuesday night and reinstalled brave Wednesday morning. Since that time Brave managed to consume almost 900mb of data in the background. I only have one tab open to hacker news but that doesn’t seem like it would cause this problem. I’ve attached a screenshot of the data usage from the settings of my S8.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Install Brave.
  2. Run out of mobile data because it is too expensive in Canada.

Expected result:
Brave to not use almost 900mb of data in the background

Haven’t reproduced for financial reasons.

That does seem weird. Do you have sync enabled on the device?

Not that I’m aware of. I was only using Brave on my phone so I don’t know what it would sync to.
