Google news is a total performance pig

Description of the issue

going to google website cliking the 9 squares thing and then NEWS the cpu% goes to 30-40% then clicking subnews like usa, world, business etc cpu just keeps pegging 30% eventually it finishes and the page is fully displayed, some of the widgets take longer to activate than others because the cpu is crunching - yes I have a 4.5 year old box but brave works fairly well with all other websites but this google is a pig

Exact URL of the website in question

google.com

Does the site function as expected when using Chrome? (yes/no)

is this all the graphics rendering for the google news stuff ? it looks like a complicated webpage

What Operating System and Brave version/Build are you using when you encounter the issue?(See the About Brave page in the main menu)

windows 8.1

brave -
Version 0.67.123 Chromium: 76.0.3809.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)

If you add the following filters to brave://adblock

||news.google.com/_/DotsSplashUi/data/batchexecute$xmlhttprequest,domain=news.google.com
||news.google.com/_/DotsSplashUi/browserinfo$xmlhttprequest,domain=news.google.com
||google.com/insights/consumersurveys

Not sure if it’ll cause any issues, but see if it helps

thx but I don’t know what that means
this isn’t a major issue

They are test filters, that will block those urls. which may speed things up, its up to you if you want to test them.

but if I block the websites I won’t be able to see them ?
and where do I type this text ? what file ? otherwise pls don’t waste any more time on this bug - I’m about to enter a real 1 :slight_smile:
