Google meet can't access camera until browser restart


Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Lately whenever I try logging into a Google Meet video call, I get a message about the camera being inaccessible (it’s a USB webcam). This has been happening for a few days. It won’t work until I restart the browser.
  2. The browser can see my camera, and it attempts to use it, but it fails.
  3. I deleted the cache and cookies and settings and browser history – it did not help.

I need this fixed as I often must hop into meetings and waiting until the browser tries and fails to use the camera and then restarting it is precious time.

Version 1.73.105 Chromium: 131.0.6778.265 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
My system is up-to-date, I run the latest Win11 Pro, my drivers are up-to-date, and the camera is used without a fault in every other application.

First, can you please try updating to the latest build of the browser (v1.74.48 at the time of writing this) and check to see if the issue persists after the update?
