Global setting 'Tracker & ads blocking' resets to standard from aggressive after deleting browsing data

‘Tracker & ads’ blocking settings here is supposed to be global, not site-specific.

But when you delete browsing data with “site & shields settings” ticked, this gets reseted to standard. The “site & shields settings” when deleting browsing data is supposed to be related only to site-specific settings, not global settings.

Btw, it works correctly on iOS (that’s what I’ve been able to test, can’t judge android).

Steps to reproduce

  1. go to settings → shields and set Tracker & ads to aggressive
  2. Delete browsing data with site & shields settings ticked

Actual result

Tracker & ads gets resetted to standard

Expected result

Tracker & ads should stay aggressive

but it’s a long-term bug, it’s been since I installed brave (I’ve been using brave for a year).

@razlekhan1 that’s because of what you see right here. You said it yourself, you are telling it to reset your shield settings. You cannot have that selected if you want to maintain the setting that you’ve changed

That section is pretty much for your browser specific settings. It’s resetting all your Shields settings, both local (site specific) and global.

Other settings are kept, just “Tracker & ads” is resetted to standard. from all of these settings, only this one gets resetted afaik.

And I definitely want to delete site-specific site & shields data, just not the global settings.

iOS Brave keeps it aggressive when I delete all browser data.

Also, it’s pretty inconvenient to be forced to go back into the settings and set “standard->Aggressive” every time i delete my browser data. Why can’t we simply set it…
