Geofence is invoked by Marcus.com site

When trying to logon to marcus.com, I get a GeoFence condition. However, my IP address is US. I do NOT have this happen when access that same URL via Chrome.
I restarted Brave Browser (Windows 11), and it stillhappens.

I get the same thing. Not sure how to fix this.

Yeah, me too. Why is this happening?

I also have the same issue. I have tried allowing and now turning on and off the brave shield and there is no difference. I use the same machine on the same network and it works fine in Edge.

I have this problem as well. When I called their support number, I was told that this is an issue with the Brave browser only. I do not have this issue using Edge on my PC or using Brave on my Android. Version 1.69.162 Chromium: 128.0.6613.120 (Official Build) (64-bit)

You can add me to the list. Works fine in other browsers, so it’s a Brave problem. Windows 10. Works fine on Android too!

I’m having this issue as well. On my Mac, I can log in to Marcus on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome—not on Brave.

I guess some comfort in numbers… Noticed the same here. Got off the phone with Marcus support, who opened a case on this matter.

This one is a little harder to test. I am able to clearly navigate through the website and even get to login screens or click on the reset and all, such as in the screenshots below. The issue on trying to test or figure anything out is that it then wants accounts. I, for one, am not about to submit my social security number and other details to a website just to try to troubleshoot.

If you’re in the USA and from the USA, then it should work with no issues. I would like to ask all of you if you’re originally from the USA and have things set up as such? Essentially curious if your device Locale settings or anything you’ve chosen in Brave might be contributing.

Beyond that, there’s also the basic Troubleshooting Steps to test.

And Now I’ve run into this with Safari. I use Brave as Default though. But I was using Safari to access Marcus in the interim. But at least on Safari there was a link to login that way. And that seemed to work. What’s happening?

This is an actual issue with Brave now. My wife and I are having this on both of our laptops now using Brave. We have tried going through the Troubleshooting Steps with no remedy. Private Tabs, reset cookies, nothing seems to fix this. Brave used to work fine so not sure what release broke this… Marcus works fine with other browsers. We have always been located in the USA - nothing has changed with our locations and not using a VPN etc. Please fix this.

I just spoke with Marcus support and they stated that an update from the Brave browser apparently caused this issue. Their concluding statement is that Marcus.com no longer supports the Brave browser, even though we’re able to visit the site. The issue happens when we all try to log in…

@Mattches and @steeven wanted to tag you both to get eyes here.

@Saoiray thank you for tagging me.
Outside of users being on a VPN I cannot think of any logical reason this would be happening unless Shields is blocking some sort of location request — but even then it seems to be that turning Shields off is not resolving the issue.
I’m also curious to know if location services work for all of you on other sites — such as Google Maps or https://iplocation.io/my-location

Let me rope @fanboynz in here to see what they make of this.

does adding marcus.com##+js(brave-fix) into brave://adblock help fix the login checks?

Should I add that text into the Create Custom Filter or somewhere else?

yes, custom filters.

This doesn’t seem to work either. I get the exact same screen as before. I also tried clearing cookies for that site as well as using a private window. All attempts display the same geo-blocking screen.

@ntraider @scottwold and whoever else. Just a shot in the dark here, but would the explanation as in the screenshot below have any impact on you?

I just remembered seeing that in discussion someone had in regards to location issues with Hulu. Thought I’d make sure to bring it up just in case…

I’m on macOS 14.7 and confirmed location services is enabled in macOS settings for Brave (v1.70.123). Interestingly, location services are NOT enabled for Safari in my macOS settings, but Safari isn’t having this issue with marcus.com. I went ahead and tried disabling location services for Brave in macOS settings, but issue persists, even after deleting site cookies and resetting site settings for marcus. Disabling shields for the site made no difference (with or without location services enabled for Brave in macOS settings).

PS- No such issues with Brave (v1.70.119) on Android at this time.
