Why Brave Browser Should Introduce Option To Prevent Screencaptures in General Tab.
Enhanced Privacy
Preventing screenshots ensures that sensitive information remains confidential, protecting users from unauthorized access, especially on banking websites.
Increased Security
By blocking screen captures, the risk of identity theft and data breaches is significantly reduced, creating a safer browsing experience.
User Empowerment
Users can browse with confidence, knowing their private data is shielded from potential threats, silent screen recorders and malicious actors working in background.
Aligns with Brave’s Mission
This feature reinforces Brave’s commitment to user privacy, enhancing its reputation as a leader in online security.
At moment, this feature is limited to private tab (On android). If Implementing in all tabs, this feature would make Brave an even more appealing choice for privacy-conscious users!
@Meeker-Morgan I was specifically referring to the Android version of the brave. It provides for an option to prevent screen captures in Private browsing mode and not in General Tabs.
Coming to Windows, Yes there is a method to prevent screen captures while browsing, including that from third party software. I use Kaspersky Secure Browser Framework (Comes with their Internet Security Solution) which is essentially a mechanism that Obfuscates the entire computer screen when there is any attempt to capture/record the screen, even when user presses “Prt Scn” on keyboard or uses snipping tools or OBS studio etc etc. Its not an independent browser but a backend framework. So when using Firefox or tor or brave, it protects from unauthorised screengrabs.
