Description of the issue:
I’ve happily used Brave for years. For about a month now on my Windows 11 Pro build 22621.4317 computer using OpenDNS as its default DNS, every web site I try to open in Brave’s latest version gives me the “[site] took too long to respond” error… even brave.com/support. I’ve reset Brave’s settings, cleared all browser data and the DNS cache, made sure my firewall had both inbound and outbound rules allowing Brave free rein, restarted the computer, and disabled my VPN, none of which worked. Neither did reinstalling Brave. I can ping the web sites from the command prompt, so it’s not a connection problem or a problem with Windows’ default DNS (OpenDNS). Disabling secure DNS and Safe Browsing in Brave had the same result, not that I’d want that as a permanent solution. I tried all the DNS options in Brave, and none could find the address. I disabled all the firewall-like settings for my VPN provider, and also tried disabling the VPN entirely, which did not affect results. I’m writing this in Firefox, which is noticeably slow to load pages compared to Brave.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- I’m unsure, because Brave works fine on my Windows 10 computer.
Expected result:
Restore connectivity so I can make Brave my default browser again.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
Version 1.74.50 Chromium: 132.0.6834.111 (Official Build) (64-bit)

In searching for a topic about this before posting, I didn’t find anything recent, just a similar issue for some people a year ago, which didn’t affect me at that time. Thanks for any help the community can offer.
