Drag and drop doesn’t work.
Since a few updates, dragging and dropping assets into brave does not yield any results.
All I get is a crossed circle icon when trying to do so. Makes websites such as Wetransfer, attaching files to an emails a pain.
Drag a file/document into the Brave Browser window.
Cursor turns into a crossed circle.
Expected result:
File should be recognized by the browser and one should be able to drop it into the relevant field.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and sorry to hear you’re having trouble with Brave. Could you kindly use guest mode to see if the issue persist?
You can open a Guest Window by going to Main menu → Open Guest window.
I am also experiencing this issue with drag and drop. Also external URLs are no longer opening in Brave, ie a link in a discord chat no longer opens upon clicking. Links in Outlook, Zoom, Slack, all not working at the moment.
Edit: Exiting Brave and relaunching fixed both issues, I guess I had just been closing the window and it maybe continued to run in background. As an aside, I often access this PC through Chrome Remote Desktop, unsure if that made things act strange.
Same thing. Crossed out circle appears and it won’t allow anything dropped into the window.
Not even say a .JPG that would spring open its own tab a while back.
Let me keep on bumping this thread as much as I can since I’ve been trying to get some help off of the devs for a while now and there seems to be no better way to reach support.
Please look into this @Alice2095 . It’s a major dealbreaker and I really wouldn’t want to get back to chrome (Where this functionality works as expected…).
I seem to have found a solution.
My default file manager is Total Commander. Trying to drag files from it to the Brave window didn’t work as per my description up until I launched Total Commander with Administrative privileges. Now the drag and drop functionality works as expected.
I hope this is going to help you solve any similar problems.
