Does Brave run in the background like Chrome does?

I’ve just installed Brave, but I noticed that upon closing the browser using the top-left X button, it doesn’t remain in the background. Sometimes it’s a bit annoying as the browser needs a few seconds to load everytime. I also do not have a tray icon for Brave, although I’ve seen some people it existing.

Is this intentional or is there a setting I can enable to actually have Brave running in the background?

In the Settings menu, under Systems, you’ll find

“Continue running background apps when Brave is closed”

Just switch that on, and it should take care of what you’re looking for.
