desktop install brave browser freezes and brave desktop icon disappears

Linux? Mac? Windows? Plus what version? For example, it could be Windows 10, Linux Fedora, etc.
Also, is it a normal computer, a virtual machine, or what?

When? How? Does it happen when you first open it? Only when playing videos? When downloading things? When going to particular sites? So many things that can be said.

But also have to know for certain if you’re talking about shortcut that you created and have on the desktop, if you’re speaking of the quick launch thing, or what? Also, when you say the icon disappears, does the program remain on your desktop?

It freezes when i tried opening a third tab (with two already open).

The shortcut was a result of the install (no manual install of the shortcut was done), and went on the desktop. It disappears, and the space it took is now empty. Confirmed this behavior with BraveBrowserSetup-BRV029.exe, same thing happend this morning with BraveBrowserSetup-BRV002.exe
With BraveBrowserSetup-BRV029.exe, shortcut on desktop also vanished after the freeze event (browser freeze on third tab opening, then self-exited, then shortcut is now gone). earlier this morning with BraveBrowserSetup-BRV002.exe the shortcut disappeared from the desktop, and similarly the browser froze prior to the diseappearing.
@arielle0902 It almost sounds like you might have something removing Brave from your device. It could be you have some sort of antivirus or internet security thing that is taking action. Not sure if you can check into that or attempt to disable what you have just to see if things work fine.
If you told me you can still open Brave but it’s just the shortcut that disappears, then still is weird but would help eliminate firewall, antivirus, or whatever else as the one at fault.
Other thing is if you can get Brave open, you’d be able to check brave://crashes to see if it’s generating a crash report as part of it.
Anyway, I’m tagging @Mattches on this and hoping maybe he’ll be able to swing by tomorrow to look over some of what you shared. He may have additional questions or advice

If at all possible, I’d love to see a short screen recording of the behavior if you can manage it, just so I can see exactly what is going on.
We have a list of tools you can use for this on Community and you can upload anything captured to imgur.com and paste the imgur link into your reply here and it will automatically embed the video.
From what I can tell so far, it does seem, as @Saoiray suggests, like something is blocking or removing Brave from your machine. So I’m also interested in what type of anti-virus/firewall software you’re using on your machine. I would also be curious (after you share the screen recording and other possibilities are exhausted) whether or not downloading/installing from our Github would make a difference for some reason.
