Description of the issue: See #1 below.
How can this issue be reproduced? I have no idea. If I could do that, that might give some hint as to the problem.

  1. Increasingly frequently, I’ll highlight a url to copy it for use elsewhere, and Brave freezes. At that point I can’t copy the url or do anything else. I have to force close Brave & restart it. Then my highlighting/copying usually works. It normally works but occasionally, unpredictably it freezes, as described.
  2. On a white box tower computer with an Intel i7-4790 Haswell processor w/ 32 gig RAM & a 500 GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, I’m using Brave on Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon. I keep all software up to date: as soon as I see any update, I run it immediately.

Expected result: Nothing. It should highlight the url and continue working so I can copy the url without affecting any of Brave’s operation.

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.32.106

Additional Information: I have 23 tabs open, many of them with a number of web pages stacked int them but, usually, not too many.

@Lynwood,
Can you reproduce this consistently/easily? If so, can you please try reproducing the issue using a freshly created browser profile and tell me if the issue persists? Please ensure that you only have one browser window (with the new profile) open when performing this test.

You didn’t read my post. No, I can’t reproduce the problem. Read all of what I wrote. I realize you commonly have posters who leave out critical info. Please let me know anything critical that you see I’ve left out.

@Lynwood,
Okay, then can you please try creating a new profile as instructed above, and then try browsing normally for a while and test to see if the issue appears when using the new profile? Additionally, can you tell me if you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?

Yes, I have quite a few extensions installed, mainly a number of ad blockers but also a video downloader which I just used for the first time (the the problem long predated this use).
How do I establish a fresh browser profile? What is that? I don’t want to lose all the sites in all my tabs. Can I have two instances of Brave running at once (I just tried to call up a second copy of Brave, but it didn’t work)? If so, how do I do that?

Btw, thanks for responding immediately. I’m impressed.

@Lynwood,
Pleas see the steps outlined here to create a new profile. Note that this will be created in addition to your current profile – no data will be lost. But the new profile will start with no data, which is part of the test. We are trying to isolate and determine whether or not this issue is specific to the browser, or if it is being caused by [some data/extension/etc] in the profile you are currently using.

Ok. I just clicked your link. It’ll take me a while to read it all and follow the instructions. Now I’m going down to the kitchen, then back up to do some other things. But I’ll do this very soon and try to browse one window at a time (whew!) until the problem happens, if it does, at which time I’ll respond to this post again. Thanks for the help., Mattches.
