Crash when pulling out tabs with wayland

Description of the issue:

When using Wayland on Linux, pulling a tab out to it’s own window will crash Brave most of the time without message.

How can this issue be reproduced?

While in Wayland on Linux, drag a tab from your active browser to the desktop to pull into it’s own window.

Expected result:

Tab becomes a separate window

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.67.123 Chromium: 126.0.6478.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

Been happening for a while, and I run into it each time I try to switch to Wayland again.

Ubuntu 24 Wayland w/ Nvidia 555 drivers.

@BobbyThortan,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Can you please go to brave://crashes and share any crash report IDs produced by this behavior with me here so I can share it with our developers?

Thank you

Done. I believe this is a known issue though, I’ve seen multiple reports and I have looked it up a few times in the last year or so as I bounce in and out of Wayland. Ironically, right now Brave is the only real problematic App at this point holding me back from Wayland.

Does the solution listed here help with the issue?

I will give it a try for a bit and see if it does. As of right now, when in Wayland, I am getting 10-20 crashes/day.

One issue, very similar and I think is related is when I drag a tab out while in X11, I can drag a tab and the tab becomes a window where I land the mouse and unclick. In wayland, I drag a tab out and it abruptly stops once it gets untabbed. I then I have to click and drag it to where I want it to be.

Still happening with “Default” mode.
