Connection timeout error on amazon.co.uk using UK VPN server

When trying to access amazon.co.uk with Brave (shields disabled), AND via an ExpressVPN server node in the UK, I get a ‘connection timed out’ error. This doesn’t happen with Google Chrome or other Chromium-based browsers such as MS Edge Beta, nor with Firefox. It only happens when I’m connected to a UK VPN server; if I connect via a European VPN server, it’s fine.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Connect VPN to UK server.
  2. Use Brave to connect to amazon.co.uk
  3. Wait for connection timeout.

Connection timeout error message

Expected result:
Successful display of amazon.co.uk website

Reproduces how often:
Every time.

Operating System and Brave Version
Windows 10, v.1903
Brave Version 1.0.1 Chromium: 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
Express VPN support didn’t recognise the problem.

It’s not a show-stopper, but it’s annoying and puzzling. Is there some Brave setting that might be relevant?

Its probably related to the VPN than brave. I did test 2 different VPN providers with UK IP’s on amazon.co.uk. Seemed to work okay (It did however ask me for a captcha check before entering).

this might be related to the VPN than brave. I tried PureVPN with UK IP’s on amazon.co.uk. Works fine after capatche.

OK, thanks; it just seems odd that it only happens with Brave…
