Clicked UPDATE, now Brave doesn't work

Description of the issue:
After hitting “UPDATE” the browser did not open. When I manually open it now, the browser quickly flashes on the screen and then disappears (quits). There’s no time for me to take a screenshot or anything. The version that it says I have is: 117.1.58.129

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. If you have a previous version than 1.58.129 just update to this newer version.
  2. Open the browser.

Expected result:
A browser window.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
117.1.58.129

I’m unable to re-produce. What MacOS version are you using? Have you added any new extensions? Do you know what Brave version you updated from?

Can you please go to brave://crashes and

  • if you have automatic crash reporting is enabled (Settings --> Privacy/Security --> Automatically send diagnostic reports), please respond back here with the crash report ID
  • If Automatically send diagnostic reports is not enabled, ensure you click Send on these crash reports listed on the page, then reply here with the crash report ID

Hi, it doesn’t give me enough time to click anywhere. The window opens and closes in a second. My MacOS version is 13.5.2 (22G91). I have not added any extensions or done anything different or changed settings. I don’t know what upgrade I had before, but I normally click on the UPDATE button every time i see it.

I have an old macbook and I’m using Mac OS 10.12. I clicked update and now I can’t even open Brave as it says you need to have Mac 10.15 just to open it. i can’t even access all my passwords and bookmarks now lol. What a massive pain. Does Brave have a library of older versions that I can access and then download? Otherwise, I guess I can’t use Brave on my older laptop anymore. Boooo!

That’ll teach me to update!
