Description of the issue:
When navigating the text generated by a Brave AI summary, the cursor inappropriately makes strange, unexpected jumps, usually to the end of the AI-generated output.
Steps to reproduce:
Enable Caret-browsing.
Search for: “electoral vote totals for 2024”.
Position the text cursor on the first line of the generated summary: “2024 Electoral Vote Totals”
Press the down arrow.
Expected result: Text cursor moves to second line of the generated summary.
Actual result: Text cursor moves to the end of the generated summary.
Proper functioning of Caret Browsing is very important for people with visual and motion impairments.
Brave Version (check About Brave):
Brave Browser Version 1.73.104 or Firefox 133.0.3
Any chance that, despite having enabled Caret-Browsing and expecting
to only use the arrow keys . . . you have tested key combinations?
I don’t understand what you are asking. Which key combinations are you talking about? I explained what keys I pressed, what I expected it to do, and what it actually did. There are no key combinations involved.
Are you able to reproduce the issue? I think the steps were rather clear.
Press the down arrow or Num Pad 2 (down arrow) and it will jump from the top to the first search entry, ignoring AI reply:
Even if I make sure the cursor is in the AI answer, such as you see in the screenshot below, hitting down will jump to a search result and ignore anything in the AI area:
Pressing down should have it go from where it is on Privacy in the first bullet point down to Enhances which is below it. Instead, it jumps down to the first search result, which is Reddit in this example:
