Can't add third device to sync chain

Description of the issue:
After multiple attempts, including deleting the old sync chain and starting a new one, I finally got my new phone added to the new sync chain on my laptop. But now, when I try to add my tablet to the new sync chain (since it was on the old chain and is no longer connected), the only device that is added to the sync chain on the tablet is the tablet itself. Neither my laptop nor my phone show up. On my laptop, the laptop and phone show in the synch chain, but not the tablet. Another thing that seems odd to me is that when I view the words in the sync chain on my tablet, they are all the same words as on my laptop EXCEPT the last word. That one is different by one letter. (Example just for illustration, the last word on the laptop’s code is “mesh,” but it appears on the tablet’s code as “mess.”)

  1. On laptop, go to Brave Settings, then Sync, then add new device.
    I have tried multiple times, both by scanning the QR code and by entering the words manually (I think I’ve done it so many times that I practically have them memorized).
