Subject: How to Run Two Instances of Brave Browser on Linux Mint 22
Hello,
I am using Linux Mint 22 and would like to know if it’s possible to run two instances of the Brave browser app simultaneously for work purposes. If so, could you please provide detailed instructions on how to set this up?
Specifically, I would like to know:
Is there a way to create separate profiles for each instance?
How can I launch each instance independently?
Are there any potential issues I should be aware of when running multiple instances?
You can create 1 or more additional Brave Browser Profiles.
But, you cannot use tabs/windows of any two or more of those Brave Browser Profiles simultaneously.
If you have only 1 computing device - your Linux Mint PC - then you would need a virtual platform installed, on which you could install Linux, then Brave Browser . . . and thereby have 2 platforms (1 actual, 1 virtual), each with their own Brave Browser installation . . . visible on 1 computer display.
You can use 2 or more profiles concurrently - I do it all the time. Click the profile icon in the toolbar, then click the settings icon. A window will open where you can add a new profile or open an existing one, and it has an option to “Show on startup”.
If you check that option you will be shown the profile selection widow every time you start Brave. When Brave is running, switching between profiles can be done from the profile menu - click the icon or use Ctrl+Shift+M.
Yes, you can run two instances of Brave on Linux Mint with separate profiles!
Create Profiles: Open Brave and go to Settings > Profiles to create a new profile for each instance.
Launch Independently: To run each profile separately, simply open Brave and launch each profile in a new window, ensuring each has its own data directory.
Watch for Resource Usage: Running multiple instances may use more system resources, so keep an eye on performance if you have many tabs open.
This way, you can easily separate your work and personal browsing!
