Is there any way to enable automatic updates so that I don't have to keep reinstalling Brave?

I have a macbook and it feels like every week, Brave is telling me that the current version of my browser is out of date. If I click on this message, it says “Can’t update Brave” and the only option I have is to reinstall it. I keep going through this process of reinstalling it but surely there has to be an easier and less disruptive way?

Auto updates are enabled by default and should be providing you updates. There also should be absolutely no need for you to “reinstall” Brave. While you’re in About Brave you can just refresh and it will attempt to update again. Sometimes this has to be done multiple times.

If you see this is constantly being blocked, then you most likely are running a program that is preventing the update. So this would be a firewall, internet security/antivirus, or whatever.

In most cases, I do NOT want an auto-update, w/o knowing FIRST what I am downloading and installing on MY computer. I tried updating, it states I need to upgrade. When I did that once, I held TWO versions of Brave; the second newer version did not include browser history, completely eliminated my bookmarks and other browser choices//selections, requiring a CHORE of activity to renew my selections. Indeed, Linux destroyed possible new updates to Brave by not even allowing any update. I got disgusted and completely stopped installing. There should be a link that explains changes in better detail and description instead of “computer-ese.” Why do corporations never listen to their customers, going ahead by simply ignoring their issues? You want support, begin by giving support. SMH
